Introduction

FitMyPDF provides a free PDF compression tool. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. Our primary design goal is to process PDFs in your browser so your files stay on your device.

How Your PDF Is Processed

FitMyPDF can compress your PDF in two ways, and you are always in control of which one runs:

1. In your browser (default). When you use the main compress button, all processing happens inside your web browser using client-side JavaScript. Your PDF is not uploaded, transmitted, or stored on our servers. It never leaves your device.

2. On our server (optional — only if you choose it). When the in-browser result cannot meet a strict size limit, we offer a separate “Compress on server” button. Only if you click that button is your PDF uploaded to our server, where it is compressed and then deleted immediately after the compressed file is sent back to you. We do not store it, keep backups, or log its file name or contents. If you never click that button, your file is never uploaded.

In short: in-browser compression keeps your file fully private; server compression is an explicit, optional choice that uploads your file only for the moment it takes to compress it.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site. Google Analytics collects information such as:

• Pages visited and time spent on each page.
• Browser type, device type, and operating system.
• Approximate geographic location (city-level).
• Referring website or traffic source.

This data is anonymized and aggregated. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar tracking technologies. We do not send PDF content, file names, or file metadata to Google Analytics.

Google's use of this data is governed by the Google Analytics Terms of Service. You can learn how Google uses data at Google's partner site policy.

Cookies

We use cookies only through Google Analytics to track site usage and improve our service. These are analytics cookies, not advertising cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings or use the Google Analytics opt-out described below.

Advertising (Future)

We may display advertisements via Google AdSense in the future. If AdSense is activated, it may use cookies and web beacons to serve personalized ads based on your browsing activity. This Privacy Policy will be updated at that time, and we will add a consent management platform (CMP) for visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland as required by applicable law.

As of now, no advertising cookies or ad scripts are active on this site.

Third-Party Vendors

The following third-party services may process data when you use this site:

• Google Analytics — site usage analytics (collects anonymized browsing data as described above).
• Vercel (or current hosting provider) — hosting infrastructure (standard server logs including IP address and request metadata).

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Children's Privacy

FitMyPDF is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us so we can delete it.

Data Retention

Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months by default. Server logs from our hosting provider are retained for a limited period (typically up to 30 days). No PDF content or user-uploaded files are retained by us.

International Users

This site is hosted in the United States. If you visit from the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, Switzerland, or other regions, your browsing data may be transferred to and processed in the United States. Google Analytics data is subject to Google's data transfer mechanisms (including Standard Contractual Clauses).

Your Choices

You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on. You can also block cookies through your browser settings. Note that the PDF compression tool works entirely in your browser and does not require cookies or analytics to function.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page. If the changes are material, we will provide notice (such as a banner on the site).
